How to Go on an Art Adventure
Park City is becoming just as much an arts destination as an outdoor sports playground. With around twenty art galleries located on Main Street alone, there is a lot of great art to discover. Strolling down Main Street, you could easily miss J GO Gallery, one of the best art galleries in Park City. Located at 408 Main Street and down a set of stairs, J GO Gallery is an intimate space filled with exciting artwork by contemporary artists who are reinterpreting Western art themes in bold and unexpected ways. Tucked away in an alcove of the gallery’s historic building space is the Wonderbox, a small room filled with strange art objects and curiosities. Here you will definitely find a souvenir like no other. Another spot not to miss is Gallery Mar, located at 436 Main Street. The windows of Gallery Mar are continually changing creative installations that attract visitors into a bright and modern gallery space filled with equally interesting contemporary artwork. Be sure to make it to the bottom of Main Street for a visit to Trove Gallery, located at 804 Main Street. Your visual sense will be rewarded with the fun and colorful collection of art by primarily Utah artists, and your taste buds will be satisfied by the numerous bowls of candy placed throughout the gallery. There is more art to find off Main Street, as well. The Kimball Art Center is the community’s hub for art experiences. Exhibitions range from traveling museum collections to emerging local artists. Admission is always free. Art classes are offered for budding artists of all ages throughout the year. The Kimball also presents the annual Park City Kimball Arts Festival during the first weekend of August. Over 200 artists from all over the country feature their works in open-air booths lining the center of Historic Main Street. This is always a fun event, with affordable art, a children’s art activity area, live music on 3 stages, and local food. |
