Beers, Brews, and Park City Bars: Where to Get a Buzz in Utah
Utah has historically had one of the most unique drinking scenes in the country. Up until November 2019, the beers found on tap or at the grocery store were all legally 3.2% alcohol by weight. When the 86-year-old law changed, bars, restaurants, and grocery and convenient stores were officially allowed to offer beers with 4% alcohol by weight or 5% ABV. (Beer with higher alcohol contents can be found at state liquor stores.) Despite the seemingly-stringent rules, there is a wide array of local bars, breweries, and distilleries that call this state home. So, while you’re visiting be sure to check out the Park City bar scene to see what it’s all about. Just keep these local tips in mind:
Don’t forget the altitude: Although 4-5% may seem low, when mixed with Park City’s elevation of 7,000 feet, one beer will hit you just right.
If you’re looking for something stronger, try the liquor stores: There are several state-run liquor stores throughout Park City. Here you can find bottles of wine, handles of hard alcohol, and high-point beer from across the country.
Order it in a bottle: Even at a bar, you can order high-point beer. (Just as long as it comes in a bottle.) Try the Hop Rising Double IPA by Squatters to get the most bang for your buck.

— On-Main Street —
You’ll find a dense population of bars on Park City’s Main Street. If you don’t know where you want to go, Main Street is the safest bet. Restaurants and bars line the street and it’s easy to hop from place to place. This list doesn’t begin to cover all your options, but it’ll give you a sense of some good ones to consider.
Old Town Cellars
$$$ A private label winery located on Main Street, Old Town Cellars brings the tasting room experience from wine country to ski country. They even rent out the space, in case you want a private wine party. Visit the Old Town Cellars website.
No Name Saloon
$ Calling all ski bums, A-list celebrities, beer snobs, and sports fan. This is a place where tourists mingle with locals, where you can enjoy a cold beer and play shuffleboard, and where you can gaze out on Main Street from the upstairs patio. High West Distillery
$$$ Known as a favorite amongst locals and tourists alike, this Park Ave saloon is a short walk from the base of the Town Lift. Enjoy a custom cocktail made with local High West whiskey and a delicious entrée fit for a king. High West is hands down the most iconic restaurant in Park City. Visit the High West website.
O'Shucks Bar & Grill Main Street
$ What’s a schooner you ask? Well, it’s a 32 oz goblet of beer. This O’Shucks classic goes perfectly with a handful of their free peanuts and a game of pool. If you’re looking for cheap beer and lots of it, this is your place. Visit the O’Shucks website.
O.P. Rockwell
$$ Consistently boasting a stellar line-up of artists, O.P. Rockwell is the best place to catch a show. With two bars and plenty of room to dance, you can get groovy to everything from blues to funk to rock.Visit the O.P. Rockwell website.
Downstairs

Wasatch Brewery
$$ Cruise to the top of Main to taste more than a dozen of Wasatch’s interesting draft brews, from the refreshingly fruity Apricot Hefeweizen to the chocolatey Polygamy Porter. Collie's Sports Bar & Grill
$$ One of the only places that plays games with sound on, Collie’s is the perfect place to go to catch whichever sports action you want to see. Expect classic game-watching food to go with it: spinach and artichoke dip, BBQ, burgers, wings, and chicken tenders. Visit the Collie’s website.
Alpine Pie Bar
$$ Craft cocktails made with local spirits? Yes, please. Those cocktails paired with a slice of pie? Hell yes! — Off-Main Street —
If you’re looking for a place to grab a beer after a day of skiing, head to these off-Main Street après spots. Veuve Clicquot Yurt
$$$ There’s nothing more Deer Valley than a ski-in/ski-out yurt serving exclusively Veuve Clicquot Champagne. Leave your skis on the front porch and enter the most exquisite yurt you’ll ever visit. Boneyard Saloon and Wine Dive
$$ Popular with locals, Boneyard has a casual, pub-like feel. Plus, the food menu is diverse and much better than your typical greasy bar fare. St. Regis Bar
$$$ Not many bars are ski-in/ski-out. The St. Regis Bar & Lounge is. It is also a cool and contemporary spot to grab signature drinks while lounging on an awesome porch in front of a fire pit, taking in incredible mountain views. Stay late and witness the champagne sabering ceremony, where a bartender takes off the cork with a saber, or enjoy a custom cocktail with your ski boots still on. Visit the St. Regis Bar website.
Pig Pen Saloon
$ This classic après bar has everything you need to finish out a phenomenal ski day: a signature Bacon Bloody Mary, a $10 shot and a shirt special, delicious on-mountain food, and an awesome logo with a pig in ski goggles. Visit the Pig Pen website.
Umbrella Bar
$ If you want some energy with your drinks, try Umbrella Bar, in the heart of Canyons Village. The circular glass enclosure that houses the establishment gives a 360-degree view of the Village, with additional outside seating by the fire pit.
