#2 – Stein Eriksen Lodge
Deer Valley is the place to go for the finest in luxury accommodations, and Stein Eriksen Lodge is no exception. The lodge offers tranquility in a mountain paradise. It is inconspicuously tucked into the breathtaking hills, and entices guests with the promise of a supremely relaxing experience. Being home to a Forbes Five Star spa, the only one in Utah, doesn’t hurt their case. Pampering continues throughout, with plush terrycloth robes and slippers, luxurious bath products, jetted tubs in every room, and a decadent Sunday brunch with live entertainment are all part of the experience. #4 – Waldorf Astoria Park City
If you are willing to contemplate properties that aren’t technically ski-in/ski-out by the strictest definition of the term, Waldorf Astoria Park City is a best-in-class experience located at the edge of the Canyons Village base area. A dedicated gondola brings you to the slopes, though you can ski back to the property if there is a good pack. Living up to the Waldorf name in every respect, this hotel literally has it all. The high-end furnishings and accommodations, the immaculate detailing, the exhaustive list of amenities; they are all here. If the Grand Summit Hotel pool is one of the best in town, it is in direct competition with the Waldorf’s, which includes cabanas, full-service bar, and even ice cream treats. The spa and fitness centers are ready to help you be your best self and achieve ultimate relaxation. For those trying to remain kosher on their trip, Waldorf Astoria Park City is only half a mile away from Park City’s only kosher restaurant.
#5 – Silver Star Lodge
Thus far, this list is shy on Park City base area properties. Silver Star Lodge is the Park City base area answer to the luxury properties already on this list. The accommodations are excellent, with plenty of the little touches that make a great destination even better. The property not only has its own lift, it also has an intimate courtyard, a convenient ski shop, and a delicious café on-site. The dogs belonging to the ski shop even act like community ambassadors, and are happy to accept a pet or two as you head to the lift. The area is great, with easy access to all of the downtown area’s best attractions, as well as the slopes. If you want the upscale experience at Park City base area, Silver Star Lodge is the perfect choice.
#6 – Grand Summit Hotel
Grand Summit Hotel is another of the properties located at Canyons Village base area, in the Snyderville area. It enjoys all the same village amenities, shops, and restaurants as Sundial Lodge, while offering a more luxurious experience. As a AAA four diamond resort, there are plenty of nice features that push this hotel over the top as a fantastic place to stay. For one, the large, heated outdoor pool is among the finest in all of Park City. It is especially a hit with families. The on-site child care also helps parents get some time to themselves, giving them a chance to try the nearby Umbrella Bar, an excellent après ski spot. For extra convenience, a ski valet will handle the logistics of your equipment, leaving you free to enjoy your stay without lugging skis around. Don’t forget the year-round entertainment in the plaza, where you are sure to find something fun for you and the family.
#7 – Sundial Lodge
If absolute luxury isn’t called for, there are other options. Sundial Lodge sits at the heart of the Canyons Village base area, and combines the unparalleled convenience of ski-in/ski-out accommodations with an eye toward value. Sundial Lodge is a beautiful hotel with a lot to offer. They just offer it for a more reasonable price than some of the options presented above. All the shops and restaurants of Canyons Village are right outside. There is also heated underground parking, a third-floor hot tub and plunge pool, fire pits, outdoor concert access, and more. Sundial Lodge is a very popular destination and received an award in the 2016 Condé Nast Readers’ Choice Awards as one of the best hotels in the west. It is the perfect place to get all the excitement and convenience you want in your perfect getaway without paying the luxury premium.
#8 – Hyatt Centric Park City
Located just outside Canyons Village is Hyatt Centric Park City. The Sunrise access lift takes skiers right into Canyons Village base area, although there are more lift options just 100 yards away, along with the shops and restaurants in Canyons Village. Hyatt Centric offers some luxurious touches, such as the stone fireplaces in residential suites, or the plush slippers and robes to be found in each bathroom. There is a focus on convenience that goes farther than just the ski-in/ski-out access. Grab-and-go dining, an on-site fitness center, and close access to the main highway all give guests plenty of ways to save time and get around.
#9 – The Caledonian
The Caledonian is unique, in that it is literally right on Main Street, and is still ski-in/ski-out. These lovely condominiums sit above the hustle and bustle of the Historic Main Street area, many with hot tubs situated on decks directly over the sidewalk for the perfect people-watching experience as you unwind. The Town Lift comes right down to the sidewalk outside the Caledonian, giving you a quick lift up to the Park City base area. That is convenience you just can’t get anywhere else downtown.
